Stainless steel rail coaches for more safety

An important Indian stainless steel association has proposed to design and built safer stainless steel coaches for passenger safety, because this coaches are stronger and absorb more energy during collision as compared to carbon steel. Countries like US, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Korea and Australia use stainless steel for passenger coaches.

These type of coaches is able to withstand considerable impact without fracturing, Indian Railways already use stainless steel coaches for some types of trains and these are designed to be anti- telescopic, which means they do not pile up over each in the event of derailment.
