The Gotthard tunnel, the world’s longest tunnel, has officially been opened. It runs from Erstfeld in central canton of Uri, to Bodio in the southern Ticino canton. When full services begin in December, the journey time for travellers between Zurich and Milan will be reduced by an hour to two hours and 40 minutes.
